City staff can win prizes by clicking below to:

Vote for the City to buy green from SFApproved.org
I vote to continue to see who bought green & prohibited products so we know why a dept. won the Team Award.
I vote to require vendors to allow City staff to shop online to buy green not PROHIBITED products.
I vote for the purchasing system (ADPICS, RAS, Maximo) to allow staff to find green products not PROHIBITED products.
I vote for the City to switch to:
Rechargeable AA & AAA batteries (new hybrids last ~1 yr)
Less-toxic cleaners
Electronics cleaners (brushes, vacuums, air blowers. Computer can dusters cost more because they're disposable & cause climate change.
Local, organic, unprocessed, vegetarian food
Less-toxic graffiti removers
Microfiber cloths & mops (cleans 10% faster; saves chemicals, water; mops more ergonomic)
Energy efficient LEDs, CFLs, halogens instead of incandescents (A-shape, 40-150 watts w/screw-in bases- A15,A19, A21)
Recycled and/or less-toxicantifreeze, lubricants/oils (for rust, machines, vehicles)
Correction tape instead of correction fluid (suspected cancer-causing)
China markers because most permanent markers have an odorous, hazardous solvent.
Refillable whiteboard markers because most others have an odorous, hazardous solvent.
Recycled or Green Seal paints
Acetone (less toxic paint thinner)
Century Gothic font (saves 30% ink)
I vote to allow City staff to buy these PROHIBITED products only after SF Dept. of Environment asks why they cannot buy green from SFApproved.org
BATTERIES: Ni-Cad (shorter life, more toxic)
More toxic CLEANERS (Bathroom, Degreasers, General Purpose, Glass)
Stand-alone COPIERS, PRINTERS, FAXES, SCANNERS which often cannot print double-sided
FOODWARE: styrofoam
PAPER TOWELS, TOILET TISSUE, TOILET SEAT COVER, OFFICE PAPER that's not recycled, processed with chlorine
LIGHT FIXTURES: Circular T9, mercury vapor, preheat fluorescent, T12 fluorescent
If City staff buy PROHIBITED products, I suggest these disincentives
I buy green...
...If SFE can see my storeroom & tell me what to keep/switch.
...If it'll save money.
...If I can win green products & the Buy Green Team of Year Award.
...If I can be in the City's List of Staff That Bought GREEN I don't want to get in the List That Bought PROHIBITED products.
...because I trust how green products are added to SFApproved.org.
...because it's the law for City staff to shop at SFApproved.org
...when it protects my health & environment.
